Coffee does not invigorates

September 17, 2011
It turns out that the invigorating effect of coffee is nothing more than an illusion.

Scientists from the University of London conducted an experiment: they gathered a group of 88 volunteers aged 18 to 47 years who drink coffee for years. Volunteers handed out coffee allegedly containing caffeine. But in fact, no caffeine, it was not. As a result, participants in the experiment, as before, improved mood and increased activity.

To assess the status of volunteers, the researchers used a special test that checks the mental activity, performance, reaction speed and mood. It was found that the volunteers cope with the tests better than the control group who drank regular coffee contains caffeine. Thus, the widespread belief that caffeine increases energy and invigorates, was deceptive. Caffeine produces a placebo effect.
